Riyadh: Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi and Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino) President Rolando Gonz¡lez Patricio have issued a joint statement calling on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to immediately stop the war of starvation and genocide being committed by the Israeli occupation in Palestine.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the two officials, who met on the sidelines of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, affirmed the strong alignment between Arab and Latin American nations in defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, with the primary goal of establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They stressed that the recent positive shift in the international stance on the Palestinian issue must be translated from words into action to change the shameful reality in the Gaza Strip.

The two leaders signed a cooperation agreement aimed at coordinating their positions on shared regional and international issues at global parliamentary forums and supporting cooperation and integration projects between the two regions. They noted that Arab and Latin American countries share significant economic, social, and cultural commonalities, providing a strong basis for strengthening relations.
