AlUla: AlUla Arts Festival, in collaboration with Khawla Art and Culture, is organizing Al Khatt event from January 16 to February 22, 2025, to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Arabic calligraphy. The event is set to showcase the beauty and authenticity of this ancient art form through a series of engaging sections that promise to captivate visitors.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the festival will feature three main sections designed to reflect the artistic splendor of Arabic calligraphy. The "Calligraphy in Tantora" section will present a distinctive installation crafted by Sheikha Khawla Bint Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi. This installation draws inspiration from one of her renowned works, offering a contemporary twist on the deep artistic beauty of Arabic calligraphy.
In addition, the "Calligraphy Gallery" section will host a solo exhibition by Arabic calligraphy artist Ghaleb Hawila. This section will also include a group exhibition that showcases the creativity of several artists, providing a comprehensive display of the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy. This initiative aims to celebrate the talents involved in preserving and promoting this timeless art form.
The "House of Calligraphy" section promises a unique experience by blending everyday arts with Arabic calligraphy. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore products adorned with calligraphy, including luxurious abayas, artistically designed furniture, and innovative jewelry. This section emphasizes the versatility and contemporary relevance of Arabic calligraphy in everyday life.
Additionally, the festival will feature a historic house that has been transformed into an indoor store. This store highlights AlUla's distinctive cultural character, offering visitors a one-of-a-kind experience that seamlessly merges history and art. Through this transformation, the festival aims to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of the region's cultural heritage.
