Al-baha: The almond blossom season in Al-Baha Region offers a captivating natural spectacle, as the mountainous highlands are adorned with vibrant white blooms during late winter and early spring. Lasting several weeks, the season attracts visitors and nature enthusiasts, enhancing the region's appeal as a destination for rural and agricultural tourism.
According to Saudi Press Agency, almond cultivation is widespread across several governorates, including Al-Mandaq, Bani Hassan, Baljurashi, and Al-Qura. Trees are grown on terraced fields suited to the region's mountainous terrain and temperate climate. The cultivated area is estimated at around 67 hectares, encompassing more than 10,000 trees, with average yields ranging from 5 to 6 kilograms per tree per season.
Expansion initiatives, including the establishment of specialized agricultural cities such as Almond City in Al-Mandaq Governorate, which spans one million square meters and targets the planting of 50,000 trees, have contributed to organizing production, boosting investment, strengthening supply and marketing chains.
The almond blossom season has become a key attraction for agricultural and rural tourism, offering visitors unique natural and cultural experiences rooted in local farming heritage. It also contributes to diversifying tourism activities, supporting the local economy, and improving quality of life in the region.
