Riyadh: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi sent a cable of congratulations to Shaikha Al Nowais on her election as the 2026 Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for the period from 2026 to 2029.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi expressed his great pride and honor in the fact that Al Nowais is the first Emirati and Gulf woman to hold this high position in the organization's 50-year history. He highlighted that this historic achievement embodies the prestigious position occupied by the United Arab Emirates on an international stage and reflects the pioneering role of Gulf women in global leadership. Albudaiwi stated that it is a testament to international confidence in the capabilities of Gulf women.
Furthermore, Albudaiwi wished Al Nowais lasting success and the brotherly UAE continued security, safety, progress, and prosperity under its wise leadership.
