Al-Waht and Al-Wahit Valleys: Taif’s Green Oases, Rich in History and Fruit

Al-shafa: Nestled west of Taif, the picturesque Al-Waht and Al-Wahit valleys in the village of Al-Shafa are celebrated for their abundance of perennial fruit trees, yielding a variety of delicious and high-quality fruits, including pomegranates, grapes, cherries, apricots, peaches, and chickpeas.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the two valleys are further enriched by surrounding tributaries, notably the famous Wajj and Al-Mathnah. Overflowing waters from these branches have sculpted lush green oases, adding unparalleled beauty to the landscape. These vibrant oases sustain the surrounding lands, making them fertile and ideal for agriculture, while also creating perfect conditions for residential development, leisurely living, and recreation, forming a truly exceptional natural environment.

Historian Dr. Ayed Al-Zahrani highlighted that Al-Waht and Al-Wahit valleys are dotted with numerous orchards and gardens, supported by essential wells that have consistently supplied water and helped overcome shortages. These wells also represent a significant part of the local community's cultural heritage.

History enthusiast Mesfer Al-Thamali further explained that the valleys have been sites of human settlement since ancient times. Their flanks bear witness to this deep history, featuring several ancient villages built from mud, stone, and plaster, showcasing traditional Hijazi architectural styles that narrate the stories and history of their former inhabitants.
