Medina: The Al-Salam Gate corridor in the Prophet's Mosque is considered one of its most prominent landmarks, as it represents the main path taken by visitors to convey greetings to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his two Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, making it a pivotal element in organizing visitor movement and ensuring smooth mobility inside the mosque.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the corridor is lined with nearly 250 carpets to provide comfort for visitors and regulate their movement in a convenient and orderly manner throughout the day, especially during the Prophet's Mosque's peak hours. The corridor serves 70,724 visitors daily.
Originally, the corridor was part of the prayer rows in the old sanctuary before development works designated it as a designated path for conveying greetings, as part of a crowd management and visitor flow plan, while preserving Islamic architectural identity in the inscriptions and decorations surrounding Al-Salam Gate, granting it a distinctive spiritual and historical character within the Prophet's Mosque.
