Al-Qatif Artisan Showcases Traditional Pottery Heritage at Banan Handicrafts Week

Al-qatif: Artisan Zaki Ali Al-Gharash from Al-Qatif represents the enduring legacy of traditional Saudi crafts. He comes from a family historically renowned for pottery in Eastern Region, a heritage that continues to thrive to this day.



According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Gharash continues to develop the craft by producing azyar, mashrabiya panels, and incense burners, alongside modern pottery pieces that draw inspiration from tradition while appealing to contemporary tastes.



Al-Gharash confirmed his participation in the Saudi International Handicrafts Week (Banan), along with extensive involvement in events and exhibitions both inside and outside the Kingdom, which have helped raise public awareness of pottery and its development in Al-Qatif.



To preserve and pass on his craft, Al-Gharash offers a series of training workshops as part of his participation at the Banan exhibition. These sessions aim to transfer pottery skills to new generations and ensure the continuity of traditional practice.



Visitors to his booth can engage in hands-on pottery experiences within an interactive setting that blends learning with direct practice. He also showcases a collection of designs and products reflecting local identity and highlighting the craft’s cultural and aesthetic significance, adding both a documentary and interactive dimension to the experience for a diverse audience.



Al-Gharash emphasized that this craft is an integral part of the region’s heritage and is committed to developing and teaching it to younger generations, preserving its presence and story in the collective memory of the community.
