Acacia Trees Thrive in Tabuk Region Following Conservation Efforts

General

Tabuk: Vegetation protection and desertification control programs by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, implemented through the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) in Tabuk, have helped restore acacia tree density across the valleys of Tayma and Al-Qalibah and along the road to AlUla, reversing years of decline.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the NCVC stated that this positive spread is the result of ongoing field efforts focused on regulating grazing and seed dispersal, reducing firewood use, monitoring the natural growth of local trees, and intensifying environmental awareness and afforestation programs implemented in cooperation with government agencies and the volunteer sector.

These efforts are an integral part of the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to expand green areas and enhance the sustainability of environmental resources. The center reaffirmed its commitment to field monitoring and the cultivation of native species, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 for environmental protection, vegetation development, and combating desertification.
