The 2nd high-level forum on food security of the Islamic Organization for Food Security held in Doha discussed fostering food markets in OIC states on Tuesday.
With the participation of a contingent of keynote speakers from entrepreneurship community, as well as regional and international organizations, alongside OIC, the activities of the third day featured three sessions, the first one discussed the importance of developing the national food sector in OIC member states to pave the way for sustainable development and food security, whilst the second one focused on trade and investment in food industries.
The event highlighted the importance of private sectors engagement and its cooperation in this field to boost the opportunities of trade and investment, with the third session focusing on projects of food and agriculture sector in all OIC states and encouraging further innovation and cooperation through showcasing the successful projects and initiatives in OIC member states.
Overall, the panel discussions featured the presentation of work papers, as well as questions and answers to share ideas and expertise among the participants to bolster the agricultural and food network.
The forum's sessions opened wide prospects to envision the future of food security in the Islamic region, with the discussions focusing on the national development of food sector which drew a host of representatives from the participating states.
The conferees underscored the pressing need for pursuing a robust approach that ensures combating food insecurity on the one hand and spurring and boosting national economies from the other hand.
The Islamic Organization for Food Security confirmed its commitment to reinforcing cooperation, innovation and sustainable practices in food sector through working on hand with other OIC regions, stressing its endeavors and efforts to ensure safer future at food level and its vitality at the economic level.
