Doha, The activities of Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change, organized by Earthna - a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development - concluded Monday at the convention center in the Cultural Area at Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha.

The two-day sessions of the dialogue discussed the importance of innovation in mitigating the effects of climate change, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar University.

During the sessions, participants reviewed the latest developments in technology, best sustainable practices, and policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the ability to address climate challenges.

The sessions of the dialogue also discussed Qatar's economy's need for diversification and the transition to clean energy, as a number of specialized experts and leaders highlighted economic diversification strategies that are in line with global sustainability goals and the Qatar National Vision 2030 with a focus on green finance, renewable energy, sustainable urban planning, and circular economy.

The sessions also discussed the issue of water and food security in the State of Qatar, the role of rational water management, innovative strategies, and local agriculture in maintaining water and food security, in addition to focusing on the issues of sustainable transportation, artificial intelligence solutions to address climate change, and green financing strategies, with the participation of experts from both governmental and private sectors.

On the sidelines of the dialogue activities, Salah Al Sadi was awarded the first edition of the Qatar Fund for Development Sustainability Award, which recognizes and honors trailblazing sustainability endeavors emerging from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Al Sadi won the award for his pioneering project "Blue Filter" in the Gaza Strip, a project specialized in treating and purifying water through plant seeds, supporting sustainable agriculture, and preserving the environment.

Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change was jointly organized by Earthna Center and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in cooperation with the French Embassy in Doha, the French Business Council in Qatar, and Qatar National Bank (QNB) - the strategic partner.

The outcomes of this dialogue will contribute to formulating the collective action strategy of the State of Qatar related to sustainability and addressing climate change locally and globally, and will also represent a reference to guide the promotion of environmental policies and practices at the national level.

At the international level, the results of the dialogue will enrich the participation of the State of Qatar in the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in December.
