Yemeni Mine Program Director Affirms Masam Project’s Unique Humanitarian Role

Sana'a: Director of the Yemeni Mine Action Program Brigadier General Amin Al-Aqili affirmed that the decision to extend the Saudi Project for Landmine Clearance (Masam) in Yemen represents an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's stance towards Yemen to support its people in confronting its various crises, most notably the mine disaster, as it is one of the most urgent and important humanitarian issues.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the general praised the decision of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) to extend the Masam project for the eighth consecutive year, indicating that the project has become a model to be emulated in the field of mine clearance in conflict zones worldwide.

He explained that the project has provided a unique and unprecedented experience in humanitarian work in the region, following its success in a complex operating environment and under extremely difficult economic and security conditions.
