Wrth to Showcase Saudi Heritage at Cultural Week in Qatar

General

Riyadh: The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) will participate in Saudi Cultural Week in Doha, Qatar, from February 18 to 21, organized in collaboration with the Qatari Ministry of Culture to promote cultural and artistic exchange between the two nations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the institute's participation will spotlight the art of traditional metal crafting, often referred to as the "mother craft" due to its role in the creation and embellishment of various traditional artworks. Students from the institute will showcase live demonstrations of crafting and selling handmade products, along with visual presentations highlighting the use of metals in traditional arts, such as making Najdi coffee pots, doors, daggers, incense burners, and swords.

Wrth will also host an interactive workshop where participants can create a metal bookmark inspired by the Makahla (round brass kohl bottle)-a design element prominent in traditional Saudi jewelry. The workshop will incorporate pearls, a signature element of Qatari heritage, symbolizing the deep cultural ties between the two countries.
