Winter Destination Wadi Al-Ahsabah Highlights Al-Baha’s Natural Beauty

General

Wadi al-ahsabah: Wadi Al-Ahsabah, a significant seasonal watercourse in Al-Baha Region, stretches approximately 100 kilometers from Al-Makhwah Governorate to the Tihamah plains before flowing into the Red Sea.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the valley is renowned for its unique geography and biodiversity, making it a popular winter and spring destination. The moderate climate and stunning landscapes are adorned with seasonal wild plants, including lavender, rue, and wild mint, as well as Sidr trees and lush green areas.

The Wadi Al-Ahsabah Dam, constructed in 2012, plays a crucial role as the primary drinking water source for Al-Makhwah and Ghamid Al-Zinad. With a length of 895 meters and a height of 22 meters, the dam boasts a storage capacity of nearly 11 million cubic meters and supplies about 15 wells.

The site of the dam includes a 3,600-square-meter park, which provides a natural retreat for visitors and boosts local tourism. During periods of heavy rainfall, the dam's gates release excess water, aiding in groundwater recharge and supplying farmers' wells.

With its fresh water and fertile soil, Wadi Al-Ahsabah stands as one of Al-Baha's most productive regions, vital for agriculture and local food security. The valley exemplifies a balance between environmental preservation and development, establishing its status as a key water resource and eco-tourism destination in Tihamah.
