Weqaa Center Hosts International Plant Health Meetings in Riyadh

Riyadh:The National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plants Pests and Animal Diseases, known as Weqaa, is organizing two significant plant health meetings in Riyadh from October 3 to 8. These meetings are being held in collaboration with the Near East and North Africa Plant Protection Organization (NEPPO) and will feature participation from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization as well as international specialists.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the events will commence with the NEPPO Executive Committee meeting on October 3 and 4. This meeting, chaired by Weqaa Plant Health Sector Head Dr. Mohammed Al-Khuraiji, aims to review regional biosecurity operations and implement the strategic roadmap for 2025-2035.

From October 5 to 8, the 38th Technical Consultation among Regional Plant Protection Organizations will take place in Riyadh. This event will bring together global plant protection bodies and the International Plant Protection Convention to work on harmonizing phytosanitary standards and enhancing coordination against transboundary plant pests.
