Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Gusty Winds Forecast Across Regions of Saudi Arabia

General

Riyadh: Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to impact several regions of Saudi Arabia, potentially resulting in flash floods and hail, particularly in Qassim, Northern Borders, Eastern, and Riyadh regions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for Meteorology has issued a warning about a significant drop in temperatures accompanied by strong, dust-stirring winds. These conditions are likely to lead to near-zero horizontal visibility in parts of the affected regions, as well as in Tabuk and Madinah, with a focus on coastal areas.

Thundercloud activity, spearheaded by strong winds, is predicted to reduce visibility in the western and southwestern regions of the Kingdom. Additionally, the formation of fog is anticipated in these areas, as well as in the Al-Jouf Region, further complicating travel and outdoor activities.

Marine conditions are also expected to be affected, with northwesterly to northerly winds dominating the northern and central parts of the Red Sea, while southeasterly to southwesterly winds will prevail in the southern part. Wind speeds are projected to range between 20-50 km/h, with wave heights reaching up to two and a half meters, resulting in a sea state that can vary from calm to choppy.

In the Arabian Gulf, wind patterns will shift from southwesterly to northwesterly, with speeds ranging from 20-55 km/h. Similar to the Red Sea, wave heights are predicted to reach up to two and a half meters, with the sea state alternating between calm and choppy conditions.
