Riyadh: Riyadh is scheduled to host Phase 2 of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix from June 20 to 22, featuring 64 boxers representing more than 40 countries. The event is part of a global sports initiative organized by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in collaboration with Riyadh Season.
According to Saudi Press Agency, competitions will take place over three days at Boulevard City and include 32 single-elimination bouts officially sanctioned by the WBC to determine the boxers advancing to the next rounds of the championship. Participants in this round will compete in four recognized weight classes: featherweight, super lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight.
This round marks a pivotal stage in the tournament's journey, paving the way toward the third stage scheduled for August 2025 and culminating in the grand finals in December, where winners in all four categories will be honored.
The event reflects the Kingdom's growing status as a global hub for major sports events, particularly in boxing, which continues to draw increasing interest from fans inside and outside the Kingdom. The Kingdom's participation in hosting this event solidifies Riyadh's title as the global capital of WBC champions.
