Washington: Washington State authorities have declared a state of emergency after wildfires scorched more than 250,000 acres, prompting widespread evacuations and causing power outages that affected approximately 60,000 residents in the Spokane area.
According to Saudi Press Agency, officials said no injuries or fatalities had been reported so far. Evacuation orders covered around 200 homes and several critical facilities.
State officials also imposed a ban on lighting fires while firefighters continued working to contain the blazes, which were fueled by a series of lightning strikes that had hit the region in recent weeks.
