Wadi Lajab, Destination for Adventurers, Mountaineers, and Archaeologists

Tourists cannot get enough of the Jazan region's stunning beaches and islands, verdant mountains, lush valleys with streaming rivers all year round, and rich, thick flora in the region's wilds. Wadi Lajab is a prominent destination that attracts visitors from all over the Kingdom. The wadi originates in Al-Reith Governorate, which is around 150 km north of Jazan. Its location in the eastern part of mountain Al-Qahr makes it a popular stop for adventurers, mountaineers, and archaeologists interested in the region's ancient history and the inscriptions found there. Located at the mountain's base, the Wadi Lajab is a gully that stretches for approximately 11 kilometres in a north-south direction. After three kilometres, it intersects with another rift that stretches for two kilometres. Because of its convenient location and high volume of visitors year-round, the valley has quickly become one of the most popular tourist spots in the Kingdom. It is particularly well-known in the Jazan region. Located on the e astern side of "Al-Qahr" mountain, the valley can be accessed via a pass. After 3 kilometres, the pass widens, revealing the valley with its flowing waterfalls, scattered fresh ponds, palm trees, and gardens hanging on its sides. It is a breathtaking sight that captivates anyone who sees it. After being chosen as one of thirteen sites around the Kingdom to become a geopark-part of an elite group of places called Global Geoparks-the valley is now witnessing a flurry of development projects to meet the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative.
