General

Riyadh: The Visual Arts Commission has announced the launch of the third edition of the Intermix Residency at JAX District in Diriyah, continuing its efforts to advance the ecosystem of artist residency programs in the Kingdom and to support the arts landscape of Saudi Arabia through an inspiring environment that encourages creative exchange, creative projects and production.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the third edition includes three cycles, each lasting three months, hosting 15 residents, including visual artists, curators, and art writers from Saudi Arabia and beyond.

The deadline for application submissions is set for October 23. The first cycle of the third edition will run from December 28, 2025, to March 21, 2026, and details for the following cycles will be announced successively. Applications can be submitted via the Ministry of Culture's digital platform. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and fully available for the duration of the residency.

The Visual Arts Commission emphasized that the continued growth of Intermix Residency aligns with the ministry's vision to empower creative practitioners, strengthen Riyadh's position as a regional cultural hub, and contribute to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030, which places culture and the arts at the heart of sustainable development and expands the creative sector's contribution to the national economy.

Throughout the residency, participants benefit from dedicated studios, mentorship and professional-development sessions, workshops, lectures, and field visits, culminating in open studios at the end of each cycle where residents present their projects to the public, cultural institutions, and partners.

The residency provides fully funded accommodation, production support, and opportunities for artistic experimentation within a collaborative environment that connects artists, experts, and the local community.

Its framework, said the release, is grounded in three pillars-innovation, transformation, and sustainability-which are key themes that inform the Intermix Residency programs.

This third edition builds on previous editions, which together hosted more than 70 participants, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's presence, one of the program's core objectives. This highlights the initiative's commitment to nurturing local talent while fostering cultural exchange with international practitioners visiting the Kingdom to explore its vibrant and evolving art scene.
