Jeddah: Jeddah Governorate is witnessing a growing cultural movement in stores and libraries that specialize in the sale and purchase of used and new books. These stores serve as a cultural destination for those interested in knowledge and books, reflecting the increasing interest in reading and book collecting.
According to Saudi Press Agency, these libraries offer a diverse selection of books covering religious, literary, scientific, historical, and geographical topics. This variety enhances their role as knowledge centers that cater to a wide range of interests among readers.
Abdulaziz Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, the owner of a used book store, shared that reading has flourished in Jeddah thanks to the presence of these libraries. He noted that they focus on the sale and purchase of both used and new books, offering an array of categories and editions. He emphasized that each used book gains new life as it travels through different libraries.
Al-Ghamdi believes that used books carry significant moral value, as they circulate among previous readers and are shared with others. This practice imparts an educational and historical aspect, connecting generations through their literary journeys.
To attract visitors, libraries in Jeddah have made significant efforts to create inviting spaces during summer events. This initiative encourages people to explore the wealth of knowledge and the variety of valuable books available, with the goal of enhancing personal development.
