Riyadh: The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) and the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) signed a grant agreement today at the fund headquarters in Jeddah to establish websites for national news agencies in a number of the least developed member states. The agreement was signed on behalf of the union by Director General Mohammed Al-Yami and on behalf of the fund by Executive Director Mohammed bin Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement reflects the joint commitment of both sides to establish digital platforms for news agencies in 10 of the least developed countries within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in accordance with the latest technological specifications. This is expected to enhance digital access to media content produced by these agencies, increase their readership and reach, and boost news exchange among member states.
Al-Yami praised the important role of ISF in financing and supporting this project, stressing that UNA places great emphasis on advancing digital transformation in member news agencies and enabling them to keep pace with rapid developments in the media production industry, particularly in the digital domain.
