UN Security Council Members Express Grave Concern Over Continued Violence in Sudan

New york: Members of the UN Security Council have expressed grave concern over the continued violence across Sudan, including in the Kordofan and Darfur states. They called on all parties to the conflict to immediately cease hostilities and emphasized the urgency of prioritizing talks aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire. According to Saudi Press Agency, council members strongly condemned reports of repeated drone attacks targeting civilians, civilian infrastructure, and humanitarian personnel, as well as damage to humanitarian facilities and property. They noted that several attacks since early February 2026 have affected the operations of the World Food Programme. The members urged all parties to ensure the protection of civilians and to uphold their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, as well as to honor commitments outlined in the Jeddah Declaration. They also called on all UN member states to refrain from external interference that could exacerbate conflic t and instability, to support efforts toward sustainable peace, to comply with international legal obligations, and to implement relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2791 (2025).
