Riyadh: United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres welcomed the outcomes of the talks hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine.
According to Saudi Press Agency, UN spokesperson St©phane Dujarric described the agreement on ensuring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea as a critical contribution to global food security and supply chains, underscoring the importance of trade routes from both Ukraine and Russia to international markets.
He noted that the United Nations has consistently engaged on this issue, particularly following the letters sent by the secretary-general to Presidents Zelenskyy, Putin, and Erdogan on February 7, 2024, which proposed a framework for safe and free navigation in the Black Sea.
Dujarric added that the United Nations remains actively involved in the ongoing implementation of the memorandum of understanding with the Russian Federation on facilitating the export of Russian food and fertilizers to global markets as part of efforts to address global food insecurity.
From March 23 to 25, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted talks in Riyadh between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine, each of which resulted in agreements aimed at strengthening regional and international stability and security.
