Riyadh: Umm Al-Qura University won three international medals on Saturday during its participation in the 2025 Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions. The medals were awarded as follows: a gold medal for VentoGo, a portable device designed to diagnose infectious respiratory diseases through the analysis of vital signs and laboratory data, and a silver medal for Smart HemaTissue 3D, a dynamic three-dimensional bone marrow model that simulates physiological conditions and cellular interactions for in-lab studies.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the bronze medal was awarded for the innovation BioNourish, a smart device and system for treating nutrient deficiencies. It monitors nutrient levels using biosensors and automatically delivers supplements through biodegradable microneedles without requiring injections or blood sampling.
Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, received a special certificate of recognition from the Thai delegation participating in the exhibition for the VentoGo project, in appreciation of the innovation's quality and the researchers' ability to develop practical, community-impacting ideas. The university also received an honorary medal from the French Federation of Inventors (FFI).
