Riyadh: Turaif Governorate in Northern Borders Region, located in the far northwest of the Kingdom, holds strategic importance due to its geographical position and significant economic and developmental potential as one of the Kingdom's leading governorates in supporting the mining sector and attracting investment.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Turaif Governorate's establishment and early urban and economic development were closely linked to the construction of the Trans-Arabian Pipeline (Tapline), which played a key role in shaping its initial growth and prosperity.
The governorate is home to Wa'ad Al-Shamal Industrial City, one of the Kingdom's largest mining projects and a major hub for phosphate production and processing, strengthening the Kingdom's position in mining industries and supporting Saudi Vision 2030 objectives of economic diversification and maximizing the use of mineral wealth.
Turaif's natural landscape and its position along a major migratory bird route have made it a popular destination for falconry and hunting enthusiasts. The governorate also hosts the Saudi Falcons Club's annual falcons festival, attracting enthusiasts from across the Kingdom.
