Riyadh: Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Board Chairman Saleh Al-Jasser on Wednesday reviewed the completion of terminal transfer operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the visit, Al-Jasser inspected passenger flow and the operational performance of airport facilities in line with the approved plans for Ramadan. He confirmed the successful completion of the terminal transfer process, which involved redistributing airlines and flights among terminals. The move has enhanced operational efficiency across passenger halls and airport facilities, improved the traveler experience, streamlined mobility, strengthened domestic and international connectivity, and reinforced the airport's role as a global logistics hub under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

Al-Jasser said the terminal transfer process also aims to improve asset returns, a key strategic objective for airport operators, by maximizing the use of fixed airport resources such as check-in counters, baggage belts, boarding bridges, and passport control lanes. He added that the initiative includes re-engineering passenger and baggage flows to increase capacity by optimizing ground resources, handling operations, and support services within the airport. The step enhances the airport's competitiveness and appeal for passenger, cargo, and logistics traffic; boosts the efficiency of Riyadh's transport and logistics ecosystem; and raises readiness for major international events.

The minister noted that the effort coincides with the announcement of the start of construction of the third runway and related work under the master plan of King Salman International Airport. Al-Jasser also inspected the check-in area and received a detailed briefing on workflow in line with the approved operational plans for the Ramadan travel and Umrah season.
