Riyadh: Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser inaugurated the operations center of UPS's authorized service contractor at King Khalid International Airport's Cargo Village in Riyadh. The launch ceremony was attended by Acting President of the Transport General Authority (TGA) Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, along with senior leaders from the logistics sector.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the new center serves as a state-of-the-art gateway for air cargo and a specialized facility for processing air shipments and handling customs clearance for goods and parcels. The hub strengthens the Kingdom's direct connectivity to UPS's global network through daily cargo flights.
During the inauguration, Al-Jasser emphasized that the Kingdom's transport and logistics ecosystem continues to expand the economic impact and service capacity of the logistics and air cargo sector, supporting economic growth and contributing to positioning Riyadh as a global logistics hub, in line with Saudi Vision 2030. He highlighted that the growing presence of major international logistics companies in Riyadh as operational hubs enhances overall logistics performance and strengthens sector competitiveness. It also improves efficiency in Saudi Arabia's air cargo industry, which recorded growth of 34% last year, reaching 1.2 million tons.
The minister added that this growth supports import and export activities and advances economic diversification objectives under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030. UPS's authorized service contractor in Saudi Arabia, Eirad Trading and Contracting Co. Ltd., manages the operations center, which spans 10,000 square meters within the new Cargo Village. The center is designed to streamline shipment processing and customs and parcel clearance.
Advanced technologies enable the facility to process more than 3,000 parcels per hour, with room for further expansion this year. The center is expected to meet growing demand for air and ground cargo within Saudi Arabia, improve transit times, and enhance shipment tracking and customs clearance capabilities.
