Riyadh: The Theater and Performing Arts Commission will take part in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025, commencing in the Scottish capital on August 1. This participation marks a significant milestone in showcasing Saudi cultural presence on the international stage, with the festival being one of the oldest and largest theater festivals globally.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the commission aims to promote cultural exchange with a diverse global audience by presenting the play "The Hoop," which introduces contemporary Saudi theatre. This performance is part of the commission's Sitar Program, designed to support Saudi theatrical production, stimulate creativity, and improve the quality of theatrical output.
"The Hoop" previously won the Best Contemporary Theater Performance Award at the 2024 Riyadh Theater Festival and recently participated in the 79th Avignon Festival in France, which celebrated the Arabic language. Through its participation in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the commission underscores its commitment to supporting the arts and enhancing its presence in global cultural venues.
