‘The Camel through the Ages’ Exhibition Opens at Ithra Museum

King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) and the Layan Culture Foundation inaugurated today at the Ithra Museum in Dhahran the "The Camel through the Ages" exhibition. The exhibition, which will be open until November 1, features 54 artworks by 38 local and international artists. "The Camel through the Ages" takes viewers on a historical journey through the lens of art, displaying paintings, photographs, and sculptures that narrate the story of camels in the Arabian Peninsula. It highlights the cultural significance of camels and their impact on Saudi identity, and explores their economic importance and their role in cultural advancement. It also explores key milestones that connect camels to tradition. The head of programs at Ithra, Noura Alzamil, said that the exhibition vividly conveys cultural symbols. Through sculptures and paintings, it brings historical stages to life, emphasizing meaningful themes that portray narratives of individuals and societies, offering a unique artistic expression that supports historical works. Managing Director at Layan Culture Ghada Al-Tobaishi said that the exhibition features a diverse collection of artworks illustrating the enduring presence of the Arabian camel in various aspects of life. Alongside the exhibition, a book titled "The Camel through the Ages" is available for visitors, providing academic insight into the historical background of camels and their relationship with humans; it is published by the Layan Culture Foundation and King Abdulaziz Public Library.
