According to Saudi Press Agency, the city was founded in 1079 AH and is situated 165 kilometers northwest of Riyadh. It is bordered by the governorates of Al-Majmaah, Rumah, Huraymila, Shaqra, and Marat. The strategic location of Thadiq has played a significant role in its historical importance.
Thadiq is also an integral part of the North Riyadh UNESCO Global Geopark, highlighting its geological and cultural heritage.
