Al-Khobar: The Transport General Authority (TGA) organized the second annual forum for ship owners and operators in Saudi Arabia, hosted under the patronage of Acting President of TGA Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, with participation from Mayor of the Eastern Region Fahad Al-Jubeir.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event, held in Al-Khobar Governorate, gathered over 120 leaders from the maritime sector. The forum included dialogue sessions focused on promoting innovation, advancing digital transformation in maritime safety and security, and enhancing the operational efficiency of the Saudi fleet.
The forum also featured presentations on best practices adopted by maritime companies, highlighting initiatives from both public and private sectors to improve maritime sector efficiency and streamline the business environment.
On the forum’s sidelines, TGA signed a memorandum of cooperation with DNV, a global leader in ship classification and certification. The agreement aims to facilitate knowledge and expertise exchange in research and development, particularly in reducing carbon emissions, and to strengthen cooperation in developing maritime safety standards and risk management systems.
Dr. Al-Rumaih expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their support of the maritime sector. He emphasized that the annual forum is part of TGA’s efforts to develop the maritime sector and reflects its commitment to raising stakeholder awareness and enhancing capabilities through expert engagement platforms.
