Jeddah: The 10th Arab Forum on Geographical Names concluded on Wednesday in the Kingdom, hosted by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) under the patronage of Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Board of Directors of GEOSA Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. Held under the theme 'Strengthening Relationships and Links Between Arab States in the Field of Geographical Names,' the three-day forum took place from November 10 to 12 in Jeddah and was inaugurated by Governor of Jeddah Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi. According to Saudi Press Agency, the event welcomed delegations of officials, experts, and specialists from 22 Arab countries, along with UN teams, specialized groups, and international organizations focused on geographical names. The forum also hosted the 10th Forum of the Arab Division of Experts in Geographical Names, which led to several recommendations for Arab member states based on topics discussed. The forum featured over 120 research papers and more t han 10 specialized scientific sessions, with more than 70 speakers sharing diverse research perspectives, experiences, and expertise. An accompanying exhibition included over 15 government, private, and non-profit organizations, along with a scientific display of more than 25 publications related to geographical names. Saudi Arabia hosted the 10th Arab Forum on Geographical Names to support joint Arab efforts, strengthen Arab cultural identity, and foster the exchange of ideas, insights, and experiences. The forum also aimed to raise awareness of the importance of geographical names, integrate them with modern technologies, and encourage research and innovation in this field.
