Taif: Since the start of 2025, Taif's rose farms have received diligent care and attention from farmers to prepare for the upcoming harvest season before Ramadan. Activities such as pruning, branch trimming, and soil tilling have been completed for optimal growth. The harvest is expected to start in late March or early April and last 35 to 45 days.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in an interview with a local farmer, it was stated that around 70,000 roses are picked daily. Each rose carries the distinct scent and purity associated with Taif and its agricultural legacy. The tradition of celebrating the rose-picking season is deeply ingrained in many families in Taif, who excel in cultivating, distilling, and selling roses, passing down the craft through generations.
Taif and its surrounding areas have over 2,000 rose farms, producing more than 200 million roses daily during the harvest season. Each rose bush yields an average of 250 roses daily over the 45-day harvest period.
Residents of Taif look forward to the rose harvest, especially during Ramadan, as they use rose petals in their meals. Furthermore, rose water and rose oil play crucial roles in the annual washing of the Holy Kaaba, which is particularly significant during Ramadan.
