Al Gharbia: HH Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research paid a visit Monday to the Liwa Date Festival 2012 currently under way in the western region in Abu Dhabi. They were accompanied by other Sheikhs and a number of senior officials.
The annual festival, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan deputy prime minister and minister of presidential affairs, is considered one of the most important heritage festivals in the UAE.
The event organised by Abu Dhabi Culture and Heritage Authority annually with support from many other governmental and private institutions and entities including ADNOC.
Since the launching of the festival seven years ago the festival’s vision has been set to make palm trees and dates a symbol of originality of past and a source of goodness for present and a guarantee for the future embodying the vision of the UAE founder, late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
