Sultan bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US Pennington Biomedical Research Center, based in Louisiana, to establish a strategic partnership and create a specialized center that offers comprehensive services in the prevention, treatment, and management of obesity. The MoU with Pennington Biomedical, a global center of excellence in precise research on cells, tissues, gene biology, and complex diseases, aims to adopt the latest technologies and methods in obesity medicine, advanced surgery, pharmacotherapy, dietary management, rehabilitation, and lifestyle management. Secretary General of the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Charity Foundation Prince Faisal bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz stressed the importance of such agreements in advancing the healthcare system in the Kingdom in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. He noted that the MoU represents a strategic step toward achieving this goal by providing specialized health services in obesity preven tion and treatment. He also noted that collaboration with the Pennington Center will improve the quality of care for patients with severe obesity and complex cases. The MoU will help provide integrated solutions that meet patients' needs according to the highest global standards of quality and safety. Prince Faisal stressed that obesity is a growing threat to public health in modern societies. Through this partnership, the goal is to establish a regional and global center for research, studies, and training for surgeons and specialists in obesity management, serving as a source of advanced expertise and comprehensive care. Signing this MoU is part of the city's ongoing efforts to combat obesity and improve public health by offering integrated and comprehensive prevention and treatment services.
