Sudanese Army accuses RSF troops of firing at Turkish plane

The Sudanese Army on Friday accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces of opening fire at a Turkish plane upon landing at a military base north of the capital Khartoum.

The army official spokesman said in a statement that the 130C aircraft was fired upon by the RSF troops while it was landing at Wadi Seidna air base, located 22 kilometers north of the Sudanese capital.

The gunfire damaged a fuel tank and wounded a crew member, he said, however the aircraft landed and personnel began repairing it.

The army and the paramilitary forces have been engaged in fierce fighting since April 15 after squabbling over merging the irregulars into the army. The deadlock resulted in suspending a marathon process aimed at shifting powers to civilians
