State provides incentives to green projects : Environment min

In order to promote Egypt’s transformation to green economy, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has recently announced providing incentives to projects engaged in economic activities that serve sustainable development without degrading the environment, said Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad.

The incentives will be directed to four spheres, mainly electric transmission, green hydrogen, alternatives to single-use plastic bags and waste management, added the minister during her meeting on Tuesday 12/4/2022 with a World Bank (WB) delegation to discuss the latest developments in the Country Climate and Development Reports (CCDRs), which is being prepared by the WB in several countries, including Egypt.

The meeting also took up discussions related to the report of the Development Policy Financing (DPF) to support the development sectors.

Efforts are under way to finalize the action plan of Egypt’s green transformation, with the aim of supporting the various sectors to adopt green transformation policies, added the minister.

Talking about the solid waste management, the minister said that the government attaches special importance to this file, pointing out to the cabinet’s decision in this respect.

For its part, the WB delegation referred to the DPF report, which aims to stand on the best procedures and policies that attain executive steps through supporting turning strategies into tangible action.

The two sides also reviewed the report’s referring to the water management and agriculture and their relation to the various sectors and investment, especially in light of the steps taken by Egypt to improve irrigation methods and water management systems.
