SRSA, Fincantieri Sign Deal to Propel Sustainable Development, Coastal Tourism Growth

Riyadh: The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) and Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri signed a letter of intent (LOI) to advance sustainable development and maritime security and infrastructure. The strategic partnership also aims to enhance collaboration in research, innovation, capacity building, and knowledge exchange, all in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the LOI was signed by SRSA chief executive Mohammed Al-Nasser and Fincantieri chief executive Pierroberto Folgiero during a high-level Saudi-Italian roundtable in AlUla, held on the sidelines of the official visit of Italy's Prime Minister to Saudi Arabia.

The collaboration reflects SRSA's responsibilities and objectives, which include adopting best international practices in coastal tourism through partnerships and knowledge exchange with prominent regional and global organizations, thereby driving the development of nautical and maritime tourism in the Red Sea.

The preliminary agreement aims to advance eco-friendly shipbuilding technologies, enhance sustainable practices in maritime transport and infrastructure, and develop maritime tourism within a framework that includes maritime security, sustainable development, technological innovation, and economic growth in the Red Sea region. It focuses on designing and implementing state-of-the-art port facilities and maritime logistics solutions.

Additionally, the LOI includes fostering collaborative research on marine ecosystems and advanced marine technologies, supporting initiatives focused on environmental conservation and resource management, and developing training programs to build local expertise in shipbuilding, maritime security, and resource management. It encourages the exchange of best practices and technical expertise to enhance operational efficiency.

The partnership reflects SRSA's continued efforts to expand its strategic alliances with international organizations, ensuring the organization, growth, and sustainability of coastal tourism activities in the Red Sea region, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
