President Michel Aoun on Tuesday received an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, to attend and participate in the EU-Arab Summit, to be held on forthcoming February 24 and 25 in Sharm el-Sheikh.

The invitation was handed over by Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Nazih al-Najjari, who visited Aoun at Baabda palace, and discussed the Lebanese-Egyptian bilateral ties, in addition to the latest local and regional developments.

In his invitation letter, President al-Sisi described the imminent summit as historic, adding that it highlights the importance of the EU-Arab relations and that it constitutes an opportunity to develop special ties.

Aoun later met with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jan Kubis, who conveyed to his host the felicitations of UN Chief Antonio Guterres on the formation of the new government.
