Sports min. launches IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Hurghada

Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhy said on Friday Egypt can organize various championships in an honorable manner.

Sobhy’s remarks came following his announcement of the launch of the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Hurghada’s Sahl Hasheesh.

The minister noted the State exerted tremendous efforts to host one of the world’s most important sports events, pointing to cooperation with the Transport and Tourism Ministries.

Meanwhile, Edward Saba, the director of the organizing company Stamina, said the IRONMAN championship is the biggest sports event which the Egyptian bodies cooperated to get to the highest level, adding that it puts the country on the map of the global sports tourism.

The championship, which is one of the strongest tournaments worldwide, includes three competitions: swimming for a total of 1.9 km, running for a total of 90 km, and cycling for 90 km.
