Speaker of Saudi Shura Council Participates in 18th GCC Legislative Leaders Meeting.

Abu Dhabi: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation, led by the Speaker of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, participated in the 18th regular meeting of the heads of the Shura, Representatives, National, and Ummah Councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held today in Abu Dhabi. The meeting included GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al-Yamahi. According to Saudi Press Agency, during the session, Sheikh Dr. Al Al-Sheikh proposed inviting the President of the Arab Parliamentary Union and the President of the Arab Parliament to future opening sessions of the heads of Gulf legislative councils. This proposal was approved through a vote by the Gulf legislative leaders. The Speaker of the Shura Council also congratulated Mohammed Al-Yamahi on his election as Speaker of the Arab Parliament. The meeting addressed several agenda items, including the annual report from the Chairman of the 17th Regular Meeting of the Gulf Legislative Councils, recommendations from a panel on "Cultural Diversity and the Challenges of Change: The Role of Gulf Legislative Councils in Preserving the Gulf Identity," and proposals to enhance coordination in international parliamentary forums. The Parliamentary Coordination and Foreign Relations Committee held its 19th meeting earlier in Abu Dhabi.
