An F-18 fighter jet of the Spanish Air Force crashed during exercises at Zaragoza Air Base on Saturday, the state television said.
Quoting sources in the Spanish Ministry of Defense, the television said the pilot succeeded in ejecting himself from the plane before hitting the ground.
It indicated that the airman was out of danger, despite his injuries, as a result of which the pilot was taken to hospital.
The pilot explained that the plane, “which suffered some problems,” fell in the vicinity of the air base without harming civilians.
