Soudah: Soudah Development, a Public Investment Fund Company, has released its Annual Sustainability Report for 2024, highlighting its initiatives and achievements in advancing sustainability, biodiversity, wildlife restoration, and the preservation of cultural and heritage sites in Soudah and parts of Rijal Almaa. The report underscores Soudah Development's commitment to the best global practices and the alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.
According to Saudi Press Agency, CEO of Soudah Development Eng. Saleh Aloraini stated: 'Our commitment to sustainability stems from its central role in the development of the Soudah Peaks project. We look at it as an enabler of the project, a fundamental element, and a key pillar around which we have designed the project. Soudah Development presents this report to document its achievements and progress in preserving the environmental and cultural landscape in the project areas year after year.'
The report highlights key environmental milestones that include the plantation of more than 73,000 native trees, the reintroduction of 4 ibex and 8 gazelles into the wild making the total 27 ibex and 18 gazelles since 2023, removing 809 tons of waste from national parks, recycled 980 tons of construction waste, in addition to the implementation of innovative technologies that reduced water consumption by more than 80% using water boxes.
Beyond environmental restoration, Soudah Development has delivered several cultural and heritage initiatives and programs. In 2024, the company launched its first community training program for local artisans, equipping small handicraft businesses with the skills needed to thrive in a sustainable tourism ecosystem. Additionally, it commenced the restoration of four heritage sites: Borj Tihan, The Bee House, Sheikh House, and Al Hamidiyah Duct Tower, which contributes to preserving the cultural and architectural identity of the region.
The release added that Soudah Peaks project will offer new experiences in luxury hospitality and will embrace the local architectural identity of the region. It is made of six distinct development zones: Tahlal, Sahab, Sabrah, Red Rock, Jareen, and Rijal, that will host luxury mountain resorts, hotels, retail, and residential options with captivating natural views and various sports and entertainment attractions.
