Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi Said that he is happy and proud to visit India and participate in the Republic Day celebrations as a main guest.

Replying to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweet, Sisi said: ‘I’m very happy and proud to visit India and participate in the Republic Day celebrations as a main guest, which makes us more determined to continue strengthening bilateral relations and the distinguished coordination between us… I look forward to fruitful meetings and discussions with my dear friend Modi’.

Earlier, PM Modi tweeted: “Warm welcome to India, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Your historic visit to India as Chief Guest for our Republic Day celebrations is a matter of immense happiness for all Indians. Look forward to our discussions tomorrow.”

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi headed Tuesday to New Delhi fulfilling the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a guest of honor in the ceremony held to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the country’s Republic Day marking January 26.

The presidency’s spokesperson, Ambassador Bassam Rady, highlighted in a press statement that the invitation underscores the close ties between Egypt and India, and the extent to which India values relations with Egypt.

The ambassador added that the invitation also reflects India’s interest in bolstering bilateral relations, given that the two countries are among the most prominent emerging economies worldwide and have vital roles on the regional and international levels.
