Shura Chairman: Bahrain’s parliamentary diplomacy advocates coexistence and tolerance

Bahrain’s parliamentary diplomacy supports international partnerships and paths of constructive cooperation between countries and contributes to the consolidation of coexistence and tolerance, said Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh.

He noted the approach stems from the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He expressed pride in Bahrain’s parliamentary achievements and legislative successes over the past two decades, as well as contributions to regional and international parliamentary forums and meetings.

Al Saleh made the remarks as he addressed the 146th IPU Assembly, which is being hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from 11 to 15 March.

He indicated the hosting of the largest parliamentary gathering is an important milestone in the legislative work record in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and comes as a consolidation of its democratic process.

Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Duarte Pacheco praised Bahrain outstanding hosting of the assembly, stressing that the IPU decision was a result of the progress and renaissance achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its remarkable urban development.

He commended Bahrain’s standing and strategic position, praising the role of Kingdom’s parliamentary diplomacy, and the valuable contributions of members of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives during their participation and attendance in regional and international parliamentary meetings.
