SFDA Head Participates in ICMRA Annual Summit in Brazil.

Brasilia: CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) Dr. Hisham Aljadhey led a delegation at the annual summit of the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (ICMRA), hosted by Brazil from 12-13 November. According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Aljadhey moderated a panel discussion alongside Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) CEO Dr. Yasuhiro Fujiwara, with the participation of heads and representatives of drug regulatory authorities from Australia, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. The session discussed drug availability, regulatory authorities' roles to ensure effectiveness and safety, possible solutions to enhance patient access, and the balance between availability and safety. It also covered the roles the ICMRA plays in this field. The summit included several panel discussions covering lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and future preparedness for potential global health emergencies. This participation strengthens SFDA's international role, enhances it s standing among peer agencies and international organizations, and promotes a global approach to anticipating future challenges and developing solutions for public health. Established in 2012, ICMRA is a global alliance of 34 medicines regulatory agencies working to enhance international cooperation, address drug safety challenges, and develop regulatory systems.
