Riyadh: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), in collaboration with the Cultural Houses' Altaawun Public Library, hosted an awareness workshop under the title 'Towards a Healthy Society and a Better Life.' The event shed light on how balanced nutrition and protecting consumer rights play a vital role in building healthier lifestyles for everyone. Throughout the workshop, participants explored the fundamentals of healthy eating and gained a deeper understanding of consumer rights when interacting with food establishments. It also highlighted the SFDA's initiatives that encourage the community to adopt positive dietary habits and make better everyday choices.
According to Saudi Press Agency, speakers shared recent policies introduced by the SFDA to help consumers make informed decisions, such as requiring restaurants to display calories, label allergens, declare caffeine content, and highlight meals high in salt, along with providing the physical activity needed to burn off the calories of each menu item.
This workshop is part of the SFDA's commitment to raising nutrition awareness and safeguarding consumer rights, while working to create a healthier food environment. It also supports the goals of the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030, which aims for a healthier, more vibrant society.
