SDRPY and Social Fund for Development Launch Nine Key Projects in Yemen

Riyadh: The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) today signed an agreement to implement nine development projects with the Social Fund for Development. This initiative follows a recent announcement introducing a suite of vital development projects aimed at bolstering the health and education sectors in Yemen. The projects are part of an ongoing effort to support Yemeni state institutions and ensure the continuity of their services to the Yemeni people.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement was formalized with SDRPY represented by General Supervisor Mohammed Al Jaber and the Social Fund for Development represented by Executive Director Hossam Qaid. The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qassem Mohammed Bahaibah, Minister of Education Tareq bin Salem Al Akbari, and Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhaib.

The development projects encompass nine main initiatives spread across several governorates. The health sector will see the construction of two rural hospitals in Taiz (Al-Mawasit) and Al-Dhale, along with a maternity and childhood center and an obstetric emergency center in Ras Al-Ara in Lahj Governorate.

In the education sector, five new model schools will be built in Marib, Lahj, Al-Dhale, Shabwah, and Abyan. These schools will be equipped with science laboratories, computer laboratories, and sports and administrative facilities, all aimed at creating an integrated and stimulating educational environment for students.

SDRPY has been active in delivering more than 268 development projects and initiatives throughout various Yemeni governorates. These efforts span eight essential sectors, including education, health, water, energy, transport, agriculture and fisheries, development and support of Yemeni government capacities, and development programs.
