New york city: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), is organizing a high-level international event on artificial intelligence (AI) during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York City.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event will bring together a wide range of international officials and participants, reflecting the growing global interest in artificial intelligence amid rapid technological transformation worldwide. The SDAIA delegation is headed by SDAIA Vice President Eng. Sami bin Abdullah Moquim and includes several leaders and experts in strategic, technical, and development fields. Their participation underscores the Kingdom's expanding role in shaping the global future of data and AI and reinforces its standing as an active player in organizing major international events that attract worldwide attention.
This initiative stems from SDAIA's recognition of the Kingdom's global responsibility to support international causes, particularly in areas related to data and AI. It also highlights the Kingdom's efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030, while strengthening its role in global decision-making. These efforts are supported by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Chairman of SDAIA's Board of Directors.
The Kingdom, through SDAIA, is marking its presence in New York with this high-level international event, organized in partnership with the Republic of Kenya and the United Nations. The initiative affirms the Kingdom's leadership in driving global momentum to harness AI for sustainable development and multilateral cooperation. SDAIA's presence will also include active participation in several international sessions attended by senior officials, experts, and policymakers from around the world.
These include sessions on maximizing the impact of AI for the public good in areas such as security, efficiency, and accessibility; localizing the Global Digital Charter; leveraging AI as a driver of private sector innovation for an inclusive digital economy; and applying AI to humanitarian action.
This step falls within the framework of SDAIA's efforts to represent the Kingdom on the international stage in the field of artificial intelligence, reinforcing its position as a trusted global partner contributing to policy development, ethical standards, and regulatory frameworks for emerging technologies. It also aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to utilize the Kingdom's technological capabilities and leadership to serve humanity and build a more sustainable and prosperous future.
