Riyadh: President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi yesterday honored the winning teams of the largest event dedicated to advancing the Arabic language, the ALLaM Challenge, held here between November 7 and 9. According to Saudi Press Agency, the competition, organized in collaboration with the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones, attracted 600 participants from 17 countries. Held in Riyadh, it celebrated the achievements of talented individuals who have dedicated their efforts to advancing Arabic language technologies through AI. SDAIA Deputy Director of the National Information Center Dr. Mishari Almishari emphasized the significance of developing technologies to preserve the Arabic language, especially in the era of rapid technological advancements. The first team secured a prize of SAR500,000, the second won SAR300,000, while the third won SAR200,000. Additionally, five teams from the National Technology Development Progr am (NTDP) were recognized for their outstanding projects, receiving a total prize of SAR750,000. The ALLaM Challenge was launched at the third edition of the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit (GAIN) in Riyadh. The competition aimed to develop AI models capable of writing and understanding Arabic poetry, parsing sentences accurately, and teaching the Arabic language in an engaging manner. By supporting such initiatives, SDAIA reinforces its commitment to harnessing AI to empower the Arabic language and foster innovation in the field.
